Real Freedom

As we celebrate our nation's Independence, let us never forget that true freedom which made it possible. Jesus said in John 8:32, "And ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free." This well known verse was preceded by a verse that gets little attention and that is verse 31 which says, "Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, 'If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed.'"

This makes clear the qualification's of who or what the "Truth" is. The qualifier is continuing in His word, the words of Jesus. This sets the true followers apart from the gainsayers who only follow as long as things go their way.

The same applies to our Constitutional Republic. There are those who would celebrate our Independence while there is not a price to be paid. Free loafers who benefit on the back and sacrifices of others while they leave to themselves the option open to "jump ship" at the first sign of difficulty.

Friends, we are facing difficulty. Our great nation is being ripped from its constitutional foundations with little or no outcry.

It's time to reflect and think on that which guarantees our liberty for it is only when we do, that God may once again bless our nation.

Seven Biblical Truths You Don't Often Hear Today

Over the next several weeks we will address seven Biblical truths you don't hear very often anymore. The inspiration to this series is from a book by David A. Rich entitled "7 Biblical Truths You Wont Hear in Church." A great book that I'd recommend to you.

With all the things going on in the world today, Iran and the Middle East; North Korea; The butchering of folks in Peru; it's difficult to keep up with it all.

An Illusionist will tell you that the best way to razzle dazzle people is to use a simple trick known as "distraction." Simple really, you keep attention to a particular situation while doing what it is you really wish to accomplish. This is what I believe to be happening in the world today. Our Adversary is keeping the minds of God's people so focused on the many things going on around the world that Christians in America are failing to see what is going on in their own back yard.

Please understand, I in no way am diminishing the state of current affairs in the world, in which we live, however; I do wish to point out that there are things which are seemingly insignificant, but in actuality, will have a great impact on the society in which we live.

For instance, the nationalization of health care, the hate crimes legislation, the assault against home based Bible studies, and the like: All of which will impact our culture in a way that will have a far reaching impact against our freedoms! Everything going on in Washington D.C. with this "must be passed now" mentality with the copulation of, "this is just too important for you to read it all before voting" debacle. Folks, I don't know about you but the urgency by which our legislators seem to be pushing really concerns me. We all know the outcome of the last two bail outs but still our legislators continue to push forward full steam ahead toward the end of the track with nothing more than a puny blockade to stop them! Look out for the crash folks for it will be truly spectacular and I don't mean that in a good way either. It has been articulated this way, "Our politicians are a bunch of puppies sucking at the tits of a communist dictator, in the White House, hoping to increase in strength, yet in reality, enabling our country and the freedom we once lived for, to die a premature death!"

Our government seems to be grading the Constitution on a curve and it's devastating our Nation! Americans seemed to have forgotten that God does not grade on a curve! Our Savior, Jesus, put it simply in John 3:18. Everyone loves John 3:16 but that is where most stop. Many couldn't tell you what Jesus said after he declared, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

Now I ask, what of the next two verses that our Lord proclaimed? "For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world, through Him might be saved. He that believeth on Him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, (why?) because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." What a declaration! What a statement! I'd say it is very clear that God does not grade on a curve. You either belong to Him, through Christ or you don't. There is little doubt of the meaning of His words, yet, we continue to go through life overwhelmed by what is happening around us while our fellow man lives and dies to enter into time eternal without so much as a warning from us as to what he will face.

You see friend, with God it is all or nothing. He does not use a bell curve. Jesus goes on to continue to say, "And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone that doeth evil hateth the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God." (verses 19-21, John).

Much of what is happening in this world is evil and men continue on their path to destruction, but we can proclaim the good news that Jesus came into the world to save sinners which is what we all are for the Scripture clearly declares in Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned..."

No friend, God does not grade on a curve but He does make provision for us to be prepared for the test! Till next time, may the Lord keep and bless you.

Mr. Obama Makes Proclamation!

 Barack Obama
Proclamation 8387 -
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Month, 2009 June 1, 2009

"Forty years ago, patrons and supporters of the Stonewall Inn in New York City resisted police harassment that had become all too common for members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community. Out of this resistance, the LGBT rights movement in America was born. During LGBT Pride Month, we commemorate the events of June 1969 and commit to achieving equal justice under law for LGBT Americans.

LGBT Americans have made, and continue to make, great and lasting contributions that continue to strengthen the fabric of American society. There are many well-respected LGBT leaders in both the arts and business communities, and in all industries. LGBT Americans also mobilized the Nation to respond to the domestic HIV/AIDS epidemic and have played a vital role in broadening this country's response to the global HIV pandemic."

To read the rest of this proclamation you can go to the White House web site.

Basically, Mr. Obama has endorsed violence as a means to an end. The Stonewall Riots, as they have come to be known, was a time where the patrons of the Stonewall Inn responded to police by throwing bricks and bottles at them. Later they attempted to murder 12 police by barricading them in a building and tried to set it on fire.

According to Mr. Obama’s reasoning, based on this proclamation, the killer of Tiller should be lauded as a hero, for he too acted in frustration toward an individual who was responsible for the murders of over 60,000 babies.

In either case, I do not endorse the violent actions that came out of these circumstances. My point is that many are being led by their “rule of emotions” rather than the “Rule of Law.” It is also important to remember that just because something is declared “legal” does not make it “Lawful.”

The psalmist David declared in Psalm 119:16:
“I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word.” And in verse 105:
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.”
Sad to say that as far as this nation is concerned, that light has been extinguished and the path darkened and we’ve lost our way!

It is important to understand that many of our nations laws originally had their foundation based on God’s Word. The principles by which juris prudence was originally conceived have their roots in the Word of God! (Exodus 18:13-27) Not to mention the fact that our form of government has, at its core, the basis that it will only work when adhered to by a moral people!

Listen to the words of George Washington in his Inaugural address in 1789:
“No people can be bound to acknowledge and adore the Invisible Hand which conducts the affairs of men, more than the people of the United States. Every step by which they have advanced to the character of an independent nation seems to have been by some token of Providential agency.”

And the words of John Adams:
“Our Constitution was made for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”

Now, I think these men knew well what they were talking about with regards to the continuance of this great nation as a Republic and both were ardent readers of the Word of God.

Adams is also quoted as saying,
“Democracy… while it lasts, is more bloody than either (referring to aristocracy or monarchy). Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts and murders itself. There is never a democracy that didn’t commit suicide.”

This is where we find our nation today. Committing national suicide under the banner of democracy, to the exclusions of the Word of God!

Through the years apathy has crept in among God’s people and our foundations, the principles upon which we were formed, are constantly being bombarded and find themselves under attack with little or no resistance!

Even the average Christian touts that we are a democracy not understanding the difference between a democracy and a Republic! And as one of the results we have a supreme court nominee who believes, and I quote, “Court of appeals is where policy is made. And I know, and I know, this is on tape and I should never say that because” (here comes the two step) “because we don’t make the law, I know. Ok, I know. I’m not promoting it and I’m not advocating it. I’m, you know. Ok, having said that, the court of appeals is where, before the supreme court makes its final decision, the law is percolating, its interpretation, its application.”

Hey, it’s time to stop the percolating. The Law is getting burned and tasting pretty bad!
We must understand what she is saying. In essence, she’s saying that the law is open to private interpretation! I’m here to tell you that it isn’t. We need to understand that both the Word of God and our nations laws are not open to private interpretation. When either of them are, nothing but confusion and destruction follow in their wake!

Ms. Sotomeyer has also been quoted as saying that she does not believe that the second amendment right to bear arms applies to individuals.
Now, you and I are persons. That makes us people. What part of plain English is not understood when it says the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed?!

The Word of God is crystal clear as to how we are to conduct ourselves in the world: Our interpersonal relationships and in our relationships when it comes to governments! I challenge you to invest the time to search out the Scriptures for yourself to see what it says regarding both.

We think we’re free, but we’re really not.
We think we’re wise, but for the most part we’re fools. Isn’t that what Scripture declares, Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools? Yes, it’s in the Book (Romans 1:22).
I’d say it’s time to wise up and get back into the owners manual for directions on how to fix this mess.

Psalm 119:9-11
Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed thereto according to thy word. With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments. Thy word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against thee.
Vs. 15
“I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways.”
John 3:19

“And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone that doeth evil hateth the light…” Repent while you may, for the day is coming when you can’t!

THE STORM AHEAD!

The Psalmist David declared in Psalms 118:24,

“This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it”

My friend, any day we open our eyes after a night’s sleep is indeed another day of life God the Father has granted us to do His will and praise our LORD and Savior , Jesus Christ!

Hello, my name is Toby Digrugilliers, pastor of the Baptist Church of the West Side in Indianapolis, Indiana. Thank you for taking a moment to read this as we share with you the relevancy of God’s Word in today’s world.

The Apostle Paul declared in Romans chapter one,

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation unto everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”

I stress, “for it is the power of God unto salvation to EVERYONE!”

Paul lived in a multicultural society but his message was the same to all:

All have sinned
&
All are in need of salvation!

In America, we, as in Paul’s day, live in a multicultural society and the message is the same:
YE MUST BE BORN AGAIN!

In the book of Exodus we read of a story about a man named Moses and one day Moses, along with his brother Aaron, goes before a Pharaoh of Egypt with a message from God telling him that he better let God’s people go. Well, this Pharaoh asks Moses a chilling question. He asks,

“Who is the LORD that I should obey His voice? To let Israel go. I know not the LORD, neither will I let Israel go.”

Like Pharaoh, it appears that many today are saying, “Who is the Lord that I should obey His voice?” and as a result we find ourselves in the quick sands of moral relativism. Like pharaoh, many echo, “I know not the Lord!”

In Isaiah 5:20-21 we read:

"Woe to them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter. Woe to them that are wise in their own eyes and prudent in their own sight.”

And in Isaiah chapter 10 verse one we read,

“Woe to them that decree unrighteous decrees…”

It’s been said that if you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything!
If you don’t stand for the righteousness of God’s view, you’ll fall for the Devil’s lies every time! Friend, there seems to be a whole lot of “Falling” going on.

Today, many fall prey to what’s known as “moral relativism,” meaning, they claim, “Well, what’s wrong for you may not necessarily be wrong for me.”

Because of moral relativism, many are conflicted, confused and confounded.
Because men failed to follow the Scriptural admonition to "consider their ways" we now have a mixture of truth and error with many standing on a foundation that has been cracked!
If you haven’t noticed, there has been an all out attack by the Adversary.

For the sake of political correctness; Biblical correctness is forsaken!
For the sake of moral relativism;
Biblical abominations are embraced!
For the sake of not wishing to offend anyone; God’s message of repentance, truth and liberty have been forsaken so that treachery may prevail and Satan’s lies embraced!

What fascist governments have failed to do by force, the Adversary is accomplishing through social engineering:

One world Government!
One world Currency/Economy!
One world religion

We have before us today, the opening of Scripture and prophecy being fulfilled right before our eyes and what is the average person doing? I’ll tell you what they’re doing: they are being inundated with everything under the sun in an attempt to keep them from pondering exactly what is going on: Satan preparing for his final assault!

Because of 60 plus years of social indoctrination, in our nation’s public schools, the ability to reason and discern or utilize the concept of "critical thinking" has all but left the building - so to speak!

Why is our nation falling apart? I’ll tell you why with Scripture. In the book of Hosea chapter 4, verses 1 & 2 we read,

“Hear the word of the LORD, ye children of Israel: for the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land.
By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood.”

The Israelites of Hosea’s day were literally getting drunk. Today we read this passage and can make the application to the spiritual side of things.

God warns us, in His Word, that during the last days, many, who claim to be His people, would open themselves to deception by demonical forces and influence because of their closeness to the world and this Laodiceian - me first - mentality.

The illustration of our text in Hosea is drunkenness. When one is under the influence, their reactions are slow and the ability to think hampered. Simply put, their judgment is impaired.

The same holds true to the World’s (or should I say, Satan’s influence through the world) on God’s people.

When the attitude of this world is embraced by God’s people; then God’s people lose their spiritual discernment. Their judgment is impaired and their spiritual inhibitions, relaxed, resistance to evil’s influence is weakened and folks begin to do things they vowed they’d never do.

May I encourage you today, to seek the Lord while He may yet be found.
